As additional safety measures, the Ghana Airports Company Ltd. has a world-class Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (RFFS). This unit is equipped & trained for any kinds of emergency, whether structural or aircraft within the airport and its environs.
To maintain an efficient and well-trained team, the RFFS offers Rescue & Fire Training courses for both local and foreign participants within the African sub-region.
All visitors to Ghana must be in possession of a valid passport or legal travel documents to present to the immigrations offices at the Arrival Gates, which is the first port of entry.
ECOWAS nationals and those of other countries with which the Government of Ghana has specific bilateral agreements, are exempted.All other visitors must have valid entry visas.
In the case of Commonwealth nationals, entry permits can be issued by a Ghanaian Diplomatic mission or consulate abroad. It takes a minimum of four (4) working days to process an application submitted at the counter of any Ghanaian Embassy or Consulate and ten (10) working days for postal applications

The following goods may be imported into Ghana by persons aged 16 and over without incurring customs duty:

AHS Menzies is the passenger – handling agent for all airlines and have a service desk in the lounge for transit passengers. Transit passengers have access to the Duty Free shops and the dining gallery at the departure lounge.

For your own comfort try and travel light. Wear loose clothing and elasticized stockings made of natural fiber. Kotoka International Airport has an Information and Customer Service points to deal with enquires and give advice about the services and facilities at the airport. The Ghana Tourist Board desk in the Arrivals Hall also provides tourist information to travelers.
A bureau de change is located within the Arrivals Baggage Reclaim Hall for the smooth facilitation of foreign/local currency transactions.
A Business Centre operated by M&J services passengers and visitors at the Domestic Terminal. It provides telephone, fax, secretarial services and photocopying. There are also public telephone booths which accept Ghana Telecom or Westel phone cards for both domestic and international calls. These are located at several points at the Arrivals and Departures. Cards can be purchase from the post office and Retail shops.
There are a number of restaurants outside of the main terminal building including the notable Landing Restaurant, Aerostar & Twinsti Restaurants. Once checked-in, you will find the Dufry shop - for your last minute duty-free shopping, a dinning gallery (Muttini Bacchi), a bar
Fast Track provides a priority route through the Airport. Immigration for first and business class travelers for departures and arrivals.
Passenger Help Points can be found at various Information Desks and Customer Service Posts or office on Ext. 1289. Porter services, wheelchair assistance and other special needs can be provided.
If left luggage is found, it is sent to Lost & Found Office, which is located in the Arrivals Hall. It operates a 24hrs service 7 days a week.
Passengers whose checked baggage is short landed should report to the Lost & Found desk.
First Aids kits are located at vantage points at the Terminal. For assistance passengers should contact the Information Desk or Customer Service personnel on +233-21-761009 Ext. 1283 or 1289 respectively. A Clinic is situated 500meters from the terminal. Medical care and travel immunization services are provided 24r hrs daily.
They are situated on the airport perimeter road about 1km from the Terminal. They are available on telephone +233-21-777592.
Self-help baggage trolleys can be found in baggage reclaim hall and departure drop-off zone and available for passengers' use free of charge.
Located on the first floor at the Departure Lounge. Available to passengers departing on international flights and transit passengers. Duty –free shops operated by Dufry/GTDC offer a wide variety of both local and foreign quality goods at competitive prices.
Personnel from Customer Service, easily identified by tags, offer assistance to passengers who are faced with problems at the airport. Their offices are located just after the Immigration Booths in the Arrival Hall and next to the Information Desk at the Departure Hall.
